Carl Sterner

Carl is the Director of Design and Sustainability at Sol design + consulting, where he oversees the design and delivery of highly sustainable projects. He brings over a decade of experience in ambitious sustainable design and building performance analysis. His architectural experience includes numerous Net Zero Energy, Passive House, and LEED Platinum projects; and he was part of the team that developed Sefaira, a leading energy- and daylight analysis software. His recent work at Sol includes applied research into embodied carbon, the potential of “carbon positive,” carbon sequestering design, and grid-optimal buildings. He believes in the potential of architecture to create a more humane, equitable, and joyous world.
