His interest in ‘best possible’ within each projects individual constraints led to becoming a CPHC through PHIUS in 2011. His two most recent projects have been designed to the Passive House standard, one of which is currently seeking Pre-Certification.
Licensed in Illinois since 1992 and Wisconsin in 2004, he has served firms as project Architect on commercial, industrial and luxury residential projects. While employed by a municipality he fostered his extensive code knowledge as a commercial building plans examiner and served project representative for the renovation of a 2200 seat theatre on the National Register of historic buildings. He is now in sole proprietor practice primarily for residential projects and commercial project code consultation to fellow Architects, contractors and building owners.
As an International Code Council (ICC) Certified Building Official (CBO) since 2002, he is focused on highest ‘conservation first’ Passive building methodologies and how they may be brought to a recognized and accepted path to code compliance.
